For the first time BC has surpassed Ontario for the amount of production of movies, TV, and advertisements. of its counterpart Ontario . There has been a steady rise for BC over the past several years in the amount $2.991 billion which is just ahead of Ontario with $2.977 billion.
OK it’s not by much but the increase year after year has made it inevitable that this would happen. Being in the same time zone as the major studios down the coast has also helped with the increase.
Surrey’s City hall reports that 5,697 residents earned a whopping $88.9 million in 2016, up from $47.6 million the year before.

With Surrey being only 30 minutes to so many major film studios its a great location for outdoor filming. But with the price of land and the low spaces left for industrial spaces, Surrey looks to open it’s doors to more studios in the newer future.
